Environmental Management System Service Program

GETF has positioned itself as a leader in public entity EMS implementation having assisted over 25 organizations with EMS development. GETF developed and maintains the National Public Entity Environmental Management Resource Center (PEER Center), a virtual clearinghouse of located at www.peercenter.net. GETF is currently facilitating the third EPA-funded EMS Initiative Pilot Project for Public Entities with 12 organizations implementing EMSs over a two-year project period.

National Environmental Performance Track Program - Region 3

The U.S. EPA National Environmental Performance Track (Performance Track) is designed to recognize and encourage top environmental performers - those who go beyond compliance with regulatory requirements. The Performance Track is available to facilities of all types, sizes, and complexity, public or private, manufacturing or service oriented. Facilities seeking entry into the Performance Track Program must have adopted and implemented an environmental management system (EMS).

The Virginia Mentoring Network

The Virginia Mentoring Network offers peer-to-peer and business-to-business assistance to answer questions outside of regulatory processes and find pollution prevention solutions. Over the past several years, interest in mentoring activities has grown in Virginia. For the purposes of the Virginia Mentoring Network, a mentor is defined as an individual or company that has voluntarily committed to provide free assistance and insight on various environmental topics, such as pollution prevention, environmental management systems, or regulatory issues.

Virginia Environmental Excellence Program (VEEP)

The Virginia Environmental Excellence Program was developed by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to promote the use of environmental management systems and pollution prevention as a means of achieving greater environmental quality and improved organizational performance. The program, which is voluntary, offers recognition and incentives to encourage the adoption of environmental management systems and pollution prevention by businesses, manufacturers, government agencies and other organizations.

City of Fredericksburg, VA

On May 8, 2002, Marvin S. Bolinger, City Manager, issued a letter to all City employees identifying his commitment and that of the City in making the environment an organizational priority. The City of Fredericksburg has proudly joined in what is a ¥ground breaking¥ effort for municipalities in the State. We are developing and implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS).

BUMED - Navy Environmental Health Center

The BUMED EMS was implemented as required by Executive Order 13148. This site contains information related to BUMED's EMS and implementation experiences, as well as general guidance concerning EMS development. BUMED is located in Portsmouth, VA.
