National Public Entity Environmental Management System Resource ("PEER") Center

A virtual clearinghouse, the PEER Center is specifically designed to aid local, county, and state governments that are considering implementing or have implemented an environmental management system (EMS) and want to access the knowledge and field experience of other public entities that have done so.

National Database on Environmental Management Systems (NDEMS)

This website presents the research results of the NDEMS, funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). NDEMS is a research study of facilities that are implementing environmental management systems such as ISO 14001. The site provides access to research papers and reports, databases and research protocols produced by this study, as well as other resources on environmental management systems.

Joint Services Environmental Management Systems Library

The primary purpose of the Joint Service P2 Library has always been to provide a source of information sharing throughout the Department of Defense (DOD) so that duplication is minimized and funding is used as effectively and efficiently as possible. The EMS Library is designed as a clearinghouse for Joint Service EMS resources.

National Biosolids Partnership

The goal of the National Biosolids Partnership (NBP), a not-for-profit alliance formed in 1997 with the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA), Water Environment Federation (WEF), and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is to advance environmentally sound and accepted biosolids management practices. Biosolids producers, service contractors, and users - together with stakeholders from regulatory agencies, universities, the farming community, and environmental organizations - will have input into shaping NBP priorities through scientific and technical support and communications linkages relating to biosolids issues.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private, non-profit organization (501(c)(3) that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system. ANSI is directly involved with ISO 14001 accreditation and certification.

National Pollution Prevention Roundtable

The National Pollution Prevention Roundtable, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the largest membership organization in the United States devoted solely to pollution prevention (P2). The mission of the Roundtable is to provide a national forum for promoting the development, implementation, and evaluation of efforts to avoid, eliminate, or reduce pollution at the source, which includes the promotion of EMS.

National Directory of Environmental Management System Technical Assistance Providers

The National Directory of EMS Technical Assistance Providers (TAP) Directory is an online tool to assist companies, local governments, and federal agencies in developing or improving their EMSs. The TAP Directory links users to non-profit EMS technical assistance providers and programs in their state and provides easy access to updated program descriptions and contact information.

Multi-State Working Group on Environmental Management Systems

The mission of this voluntary group of states, EPA, nongovernmental agencies, and industries is to understand the use of EMS in public policy and its ability to improve the environment. MSWG is an organization that convenes government, non-government, business and academic interests to conduct research, promote dialogue, create networks and establish partnerships that improve the state of the environment, economy and community through systems-based public and private policy innovation.

The Registrar Accreditation Board website provides information on ANSI-RAB NAP-accredited registrars, as well as RAB-accredited training course providers and RAB-certified auditors. This site offers searchable databases to assist in your search for an auditor, training course, or accredited registrar. The ANSI-RAB NAP covers the accreditation of QMS and EMS registrars. Separate from the ANSI-RAB NAP are certification programs for EMS auditors and QMS auditors and accreditation programs for course providers offering QMS and EMS auditor training courses operated solely by RAB.

A free, online resource for a variety of information and resource links related to ISO 14001. The site maintains an ongoing discussion forum, as well as material focusing on EMS implementation and training.

Local Government Environmental Assistance Network

The Local Government Environmental Assistance Network has provided this toolbox as a resource to assist local government officials in their efforts to protect the environment and public health. Opening each drawer provides users with access to a variety of tools in a particular area of concern to local governments, including Environmental Management System information.
